Migrating a Vivado SDK - Project to Vitis Unified Software Platform - SHORTIEPLC2 ONLINE
For Xilinx devices a highly integrated toolchain exists with Vivado. Right from release it extended to embedded designs with the SDK. The approach to overall project setup has seen changes for Xilinx Vitis Unified Software Environment, i.e. since 2019.2. The unification aspect is mostly concerned with SDx and SDK but Vitis provides an improved structural project support as will be discussed.
So there is considerable interest in moving designs forward to Vitis from earlier tool versions. This Shorty will show various ways to achieve this, by import or replication, and should help to pinpoint the differences and highlight the steps to be taken newly in the Vitis tool flow.
As demonstration vehicle a Vivado SDK Zynq design is derived and built. We will show ways to replicate the design via underlying Vivado to exported into a Vitis workspace. This workspace will be used to drive live hardware for debugging and profiling.
The shorty addresses beginner and intermediate level design engineers who want to migrate to Vitis.
