The Workshop “Easy Start Embedded for ZYNQ-7000 SoC Systems” introduces the FPGA designer into the world of embedded designs in the context of the new ZYNQ-7000 SoC technology. This class teaches the attendee how complex embedded applications can be carried out using ZYNQ-7000 SoC devices. After a brief discussion of the architecture of the ZYNQ-7000 SoC device, the attendee starts implementing an embedded application. Emphasis is placed on the project planning of embedded projects taking advantage of the new ZYNQ-7000 SoC platform and the corresponding Vivado Design tool suite. During these 2 days, each participant will execute all important steps of the development phase: Generation of the hardware platform with support of wizzards, incrementally extend hardware functionality, create and bind software libraries. These steps are verified on an evaluation board. It will also be shown how a C application project can get created and debugged using Vivado SDK. Various hardware platforms will get created and they will be run using different software applications. A more exhaustive learning experience is available with the PLC2 PowerWorkshop “Professional ZYNQ-7000 SoC”, or in the 3 day classes “Compact ZYNQ-7000 SoC for HW Designers” and “Compact ZYNQ-7000 SoC for SW Designers”.
